Professor Zbigniew Frieman, outstanding polish viola player, died

Professor Zbigniew Frieman died on 21 March 2019. Frieman was an outstanding polish viola player.

Professor Zbigniew Frieman graduate and teacher of the Academy of Music in Łódź, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Instrumental Music (1971-1978) and head of the Department of Chamber Music (1978-1979), who conducted a rich artistic activity as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.

Professor Frieman for teaching and artistic activities he received, among others awards of the Minister of Culture and Arts (1st and 2nd degree), Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Golden Cross of Merit, KEN Medal, Medal of the French Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Gold Medal of Herbert von Karajan. He was awarded the Gold Badge of SPAM, the Badge of the Distinguished Culture Activist, the Badge of the City of Lodz and the City of Lodz Award in the field of culture and the Gold Medal “Zasłużony Kulturze Gloria Artis”.
